There can be many reasons why a watch stops working. If it is a quartz watch, the most likely cause is that the battery has run out. In such a case, it should be replaced, remembering to use a battery dedicated to the given model. In the case of manual and automatic watches stopping, the reason is usually that the power reserve has run out. In such a situation, the watch should be wound by making about 40 turns of the crown in the appropriate setting. In the case of a manual drive, it puts up resistance, thus informing that the mechanism is fully charged. The automatic timepiece will spin all the time, so it is worth counting the number of turns. It should be remembered that some watches have screw-down crowns, which must be unscrewed before use.
What is the difference between mechanical and quartz watches?
Mechanical watches are those that use a tightly wound mainspring to power them. This type of drive is divided into two categories: manual watches, in which the spring is wound manually (usually once every 2 days), and automatic watches, where it is wound using a special rotor placed in the watch case, which moves with the movement of the hand on which we wear the watch.
Quartz watches are powered by the vibrations of a quartz plate powered by energy from a battery, the average life of which is about 5 years. They are more accurate but are more sensitive to temperature.
How long does a quartz battery last?
There are many factors that affect the life of a quartz watch battery. These include the level of technological advancement and the number and type of timepiece functions. The weather conditions to which it is exposed can also have an impact. The estimated time for a watch equipped only with an additional date function is from 1 to 5 years.
How long does service take?
The time it takes to perform a service depends on several factors. These include the scope of work and the availability of spare parts. We are usually able to estimate it when accepting the order after initial verification to determine the service specification.
What is the process of servicing or repairing a watch?
To service your watch, simply send us an inquiry that will allow us to determine the scope of work based on which an approximate price will be determined. After its acceptance, the watch should be sent or delivered in person to one of our stores. The time of any repair and the final price will be provided after verification by one of the employees of our service center. This depends on the type of fault, as well as the availability of spare parts. The repair will be carried out by qualified watchmakers with many years of experience and using the highest quality equipment.
After the fault has been removed, the watch undergoes a detailed inspection of the service performed.
After payment has been posted, the watch is made available for personal collection in the selected store.
